Come along and tell us your views at Cumbria Pride

Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Peter McCall is encouraging people to support Cumbria Pride, celebrating the positive actions and support for LGBTQ+ communities across the county, on Saturday 25 September at Caldew Riverside carpark, Carlisle from 12-6pm.

PCC, Peter McCall comments: “Celebrating our county’s incredible diversity is what Cumbria Pride is all about.

“I hope people will take the opportunity to come along to Cumbria Pride, visit our stall and let members of my office know your thoughts about policing in Cumbria.

“Everybody should feel comfortable and safe being themselves and it’s important to be reminded of this when supporting our LGBTQ+ communities in Cumbria.

“Cumbria Pride is an ideal opportunity to ask police officers face-to-face, any questions that you may have and let us know, how we can support people and keep our communities safe together.

“Attending Pride events is a great way to meet people from local businesses, charities and groups, who are all working together to support and raise awareness of LGBTQ+ rights and progress.

“Over the years, Pride has grown, not just in numbers within the LGBTQ+ community, but in popularity. These events strengthen bonds within a community and make positive progress in achieving diverse opportunities for all, which is vital.

Adrian Tyson, Chair of Cumbria Police Pride Network comments: “Cumbria Pride is a place where everyone can celebrate being part of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s a safe space for all.

“We work closely with our partners at Pride to ensure our LGBTQ+ community rightly feel supported, safe and included in Cumbria.

“Cumbria Police are here to support not just the community but our LGBTQ+ colleagues.

“There is no place for Hate in such a beautiful county. We wish Cumbria Pride and everyone attending, a fun, successful and positive event.”
