Commissioner Launches Community Awards Scheme
Nominations Open for Commissioner’s Community Awards Scheme 2017
Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner Peter McCall has launched a new scheme to recognise the outstanding work carried out by people within Cumbria who help to keep their communities safe in either a voluntary or professional capacity.
Speaking about the awards scheme Peter McCall said: “I want to be able to say a sincere and big ‘thank you’ to those people who go the extra mile to help deliver outstanding services to the public, preventing crime, and supporting vulnerable people and victims.
“I remain convinced that we all need to work together to keep Cumbria safe. My ethos is ‘we, not they’, and I know that there are many outstanding individuals and groups out there that epitomise this vision, and I would like to formally recognise them.
“I am therefore putting a plea out to you all to think about who you know or work with that deserves to be recognised in this way, so please get your nominations in. This is a great way to recognise and show our appreciation to those who put themselves out for the community.”
The award categories are:
- Outstanding Citizen
- Outstanding Young Citizen
- Outstanding Community Project
- Outstanding Volunteer Award
- Outstanding Team or Outstanding Professional
Nominations are open to individuals and teams from across the community, voluntary or business sectors, where an outstanding contribution has been made to improve community safety, prevent crime, protect vulnerable people and supporting the objectives within the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan.
Anyone can submit a nomination including managers, colleagues or members of the public who have benefitted or witnessed the efforts of individuals and teams.
The closing date for nominations is 28 April 2017 at 12 noon.
