Commissioner To Take Part In Big Sleep!
Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner Peter McCall is taking part in this year’s charity event The Big Sleep to raise money for Cumbria Community Foundation’s Winter Warmth appeal on 28 January.
Speaking of his support for the event, Peter McCall said:
“I think the Big Sleep event is a great idea, and I am looking forward to taking part because I believe it is such a worthwhile cause. By raising money for the Winter Warmth fund so many people show that they care for others in our community and it helps to raise awareness that we need to look out for our elderly neighbours. I hope we may be able to help prevent some of the 300+ deaths that sadly occur in Cumbria each winter due to the cold.
“It also happens to coincide with my birthday this year, and given the location and the events planned for that night, it will certainly be one I am unlikely to forget!”
