Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, who funds Get Safe Online in Cumbria, said: “Technology is constantly advancing so it is essential that we all know how to best protect ourselves when we are online.

“Cyber criminals are experts in gaining the trust of members of the public and exploiting this trust for financial or even sexual gain.

“It’s imperative that we all know how to spot the signs of scams and fraud so that, if we are targeted, we can protect ourselves, our children, our parents and even our businesses from online criminals.

“The Get Safe Online training is an excellent opportunity for everyone to get even more knowledge about how to navigate the internet safely and put deterrents in place to discourage perpetrators.

“I would urge everyone to sign-up for this training – it really is beneficial to everyone involved and together we can put a stop to cyber crime.”

Tony Neate, CEO at Get Safe Online, said: “At Get Safe Online we’re true fans of the internet, but also aware of the type of problems people face from people like fraudsters and abusers.

“After all, that’s our job.

“Our engaging training sessions are led by a team of passionate experts and are a great way to understand how to protect yourself, your family and your online devices.
