Have Your Say about Policing in Millom

Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, and Chief Constable, Michelle Skeer will be in Millom Library, St George’s Road, LA18 4DD from 1.30 to 3pm on Thursday 20 February, to hear about any policing concerns of those who live in the town and surrounding villages. No appointments necessary.

The Commissioner and Chief Constable will also be out earlier on in the day with the pro-active team on a ‘walk-about’ and hear  local people’s views, opinions and issues that are important to them.

Peter McCall comments: “A large part of my role as Police and Crime Commissioner is to hear the views and policing concerns of the people of Cumbria.

“As I have said on many occasions, your priorities are my priorities and they form the cornerstone of my vision ‘we, not they’. I hope that I have managed to convey how important it is that we all take some responsibility to help keep Cumbria safe.

Please use this opportunity to speak to the Chief Constable and I directly, face to face.  We need to work together in our communities to help to prevent crime and anti-social behavior.

“Millom is an isolated community but crime still takes place in the town so we need the public to raise these issues with us so that the police can do something about it.

Chief Constable Michelle Skeer, Cumbria Constabulary, said: “A core role for policing is to listen to, understand and work with the communities we serve.

“I am looking forward to visiting Millom and meeting those that live in the town and the surrounding areas. If you have a concern that you would like to discuss or simply want to find out more about what we, as a police force, are doing to support you – please drop in for a chat. With your information, we can use this to help prioritise what we do to improve quality of life for those living or working in the local area.

“In Cumbria, we have strong links with our communities and partner agencies which assists our officers and staff in keeping people safe.”
