About Cumbria Fire and Rescue Services

Home Safety Visit: Will visit home to check smoke detectors and provide personalised fire safety advice that will include escape planning and fire risk assessment. In cases where arson has been threatened or unwanted items have been posted through front doors we can provide advice and supply/fit anti-arson device.

We also have an online Web Assessment tool that people can access on our website to ascertain, themselves, the level of fire risk in their home. This can be found at: www.cumbriafire.gov.uk

We also provide a programme called FIRES (Fire Intervention Response Education Scheme) where we provide education to young fire setters on the dangers and wider consequences of their behaviour/actions. This is an intervention that educates and provides an opportunity for the individual to recognise fully the risks that they have been taking and how their actions affect others.

We also provide education for young drivers or those who are about to start driving called Road Awareness Training. This training focuses on risks and the main causes of Road Traffic Collisions and explores the wider consequences of risk taking behaviour on the road. We also support the Pass Plus + Scheme as a member of the CRSP, details of which can be found on the CRSP website: www.crsp.co.uk.

We an also provide input on Road Safety to younger children that focuses on them as young and vulnerable road users and raise their awareness of the risks and hazards and what they can do to keep themselves safe.

Who We Help

We provide all our services to anyone who resides within Cumbria and will act upon a request as appropriate. We obviously have a limited resource and therefore will prioritise any interventions based on an individual’s circumstances, their level of fire risk or whether they fit into a recognised high risk profile.

Accessing Our Services

We cover the whole county of Cumbria and can be contacted on our Free Phone No: 0800 3584777. We are able to provide services flexibly but most of our Community Safety staff work the core hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
