The Commissioner is committed to, where appropriate, working in collaboration with other Commissioners, police forces and partner organisations either nationally, regionally or within the county for the benefit of Cumbria.
North West Joint Committee
The Commissioner is a member of the North West Joint Committee which includes all the commissioners from the North West. These are – Cumbria, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and North Wales. The terms of reference for this committee can be viewed here.
A Collaboration Service General Agreement has been signed by all Police & Crime Commissioners and Chief Constables of the North West Joint Committee. To view a copy of the agreement click here.

Detailed below are some of the collaboration work which is currently being undertaken.
An agreement is in place for collaborative procurement of forensic science services by Police Authorities in the South-West of England and Wales and the North-West of England
Learning & Development
Cumbria and Lancashire Constabularies, through their Commissioners, have agreed, via a joint agreement, to provide learning and development packages and training for both forces. This collaboration can achieve savings of £319,500 for Cumbria per annum. These savings are achieved through reductions in management and training delivery, the removal of duplication of functions between two learning and development departments, achieving economies of scale and sharing of best practice.
Cumbria Shared Internal Audit Service
The Cumbria Shared Internal Audit Service (“Internal Audit”) provides an Internal Audit function for each of the organisations that form part of the shared service, namely:
Cumbria County Council (the host authority)
Carlisle City Council
Copeland Borough Council
Cumbria Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner
